THE JOY OF SNOW—PANDAS AND SLEDDERS.

THE JOY OF SNOW—PANDAS AND SLEDDERS. Here is a video from the Cincinnati Zoo on You Tube of red pandas playing in the snow.

I posted here about how the predicted “storm of the century” had left only about a foot of snow, but had delivered two and a half feet to Boston. For a full ten hours, while our foot of snow was falling, we heard cries of joy from across the street as the neighborhood kids enjoyed the snow.

Why do I seldom stop to contemplate the beauty and joy of snow? Because I worry about cleaning off cars and driving and possible frozen pipes and possible ice dams and possible loss of power.

I too find myself worrying about the extra chores and risks the snow brings rather than enjoying it. I can still passively enjoy it by watching the snow fall and admiring how it blankets the world in white, but I don’t romp in it or build snow forts or go sledding. It feels like one of the emotional divides between childhood and adulthood.
