THE DIFFICULTY OF ELIMINATING ALTERNATIVE COSMOLOGICAL EXPLANATIONS. Just after last year’s announcement I posted here about how the scientists who conducted the experiment had checked their work, examining over a dozen alternative explanations. And yet there remained an alternative explanation. What happened with this experiment is another confirmation of Richard Feynman’s empirical observation that, as I posted here, it is extremely difficult to design experiments which eliminate all other explanations.
