HOW EXTRA WEIGHT HELPS A SINGER.

HOW EXTRA WEIGHT HELPS A SINGER. Many opera singers are heavy, and I have wondered how the weight might help a singer. Debora Voigt has written a memoir, CALL ME DEBBIE, TRUE CONFESSIONS OF A DOWN-TO-EARTH DIVA. Jennifer Maloney had an interview with her in the Wall Street Journal (January 16). The singer tells about her gastric-bypass surgery and says: “When I started losing weight, my instrument started to change. I didn’t know how much to engage the abdominal muscles. Because when you have all that weight on you, it happens automatically. It took a good couple of years to feel comfortable.”

I still have an unanswered question about baseball? How does extra weight help so many pitchers?
