CHRIS ROCK—THE ISOLATION OF BEING RICH AND BLACK.

CHRIS ROCK—THE ISOLATION OF BEING RICH AND BLACK. In an interview with Frank Rich in New York magazine (December 1-14), Chris Rock tells “what it feels like to be black and rich”. He compares it to Bill Murray’s character in Lost in Translation. “He seems kind of isolated”, surrounded by Japanese people. The interview takes place on the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel overlooking Central Park. Rock says: “Look at me right now….And there’s only one black person here who’s not working. Bill Murray in Lost in Translation is what Bryant Gumble experiences every day. Or Al Roker.” Rock says that he has does not remember ever having had any meeting with a black film executive.
