FROST/ELIOT. To my astonishment, Professor Mayo expressed the thought that in a hundred years, Robert Frost would be ranked higher as a poet than T S Eliot. In fact, it took about 30 years (from 1960 to 1989) for Eliot’s reputation to decline dramatically. It’s probably still too early to see what Eliot’s reputation will be like in 2060.
