MY MOTHER’S OPINION OF BEER. My mother, despite her Danish heritage, did not drink beer. There was a time when my mother was visiting us, and I got a beer for myself and a Clausthaler for Mary Jane. Mary Jane was pregnant and she explained to my mother that she was drinking Clausthaler because it was nonalcoholic. My mother was astonished: “You mean you drink it for the taste!”
