A CHILD’S CHRISTMAS IN A STRANGE LAND. During the Christmas season, we usually watch the Denholm Elliott version of A CHILD’S CHRISTMAS IN WALES. Mary Jane had wanted Annalisa and Nick to watch it for several years before she persuaded them to do so. They were gifted mimics. They had envisioned A CHILD’S CHRISTMAS IN WALES as a documentary on foreign customs, and whenever Mary Jane had mentioned the tape, one or both would drone in a professional announcer’s voice: “Christmas in Wales is very different from a child’s Christmas in America.” Of course, they liked it when they finally saw it.
