SHAKESPEARE ON THE SOUND DOES A WONDERFUL “AS YOU LIKE IT”.

SHAKESPEARE ON THE SOUND DOES A WONDERFUL “AS YOU LIKE IT”. The Shakespeare on the Sound productions each year have been a joy. One reason is that it is our neighborhood Shakespeare, only two blocks away and part of Rowayton’s three block long business district. It’s fun to walk by and look over the fence for a couple minutes when we’re not in the audience. There are a lot of families, and a number of children watching, usually strikingly attentive children.

This year’s As You Like It was the best production of the play that we have seen. Special credit should go to the leads, who were unusually good: Katie Wieland as Rosalind, Medina Senghore as Celia, and Christopher Ghaffari as Orlando. As I elaborate in my next post, this Rosalind remained a charming girl while she was in disguise as the boy Ganymede, and it worked beautifully. The scenes between Ganymede and her friend Celia were delightful, and the romances were convincing. The director, who put all this together was Claire Shannon Kelly.
