WAITING YEARS FOR A DROP OF LIQUID.

WAITING YEARS FOR A DROP OF LIQUID. I posted here in February 2012 about an experiment that had been running for 85 years to determine how viscous tar pitch is. In the 85 years, eight drops of tar pitch had fallen and been recorded. The two previous drops fell in 1988 and 2000. Nick sent me this article by Robin McKie in the Observer about how “excitement is now rising” because a new drop is anticipated “in the very near future.” Here is the website for the experiment with a time lapse video of the progress that the prospective drop of liquid made between April 28, 2012 and April 28, 2013. The website also has a before and after picture of tar pitch being broken by a hammer and—if you want to watch—the live view from the webcam which will show the drop when it falls.
