GET CARTER—A GREAT MOVIE? I posted here on my experience watching Get Carter in the seventies in a faded Times Square movie palace. I described it in that post as simply a “revenge movie” and remarked that even my son Nick would not have guessed that I was fond of it. I was surprised to see, as this wikipedia article reports, that in 2004 a survey of 25 British film critics in Total Film magazine chose it as the greatest British film of all time. This BBC news article lists the movies that finished behind it, including The Third Man.
