BRONKO NAGURSKI AND THE WALL.

BRONKO NAGURSKI AND THE WALL. During all the discussion about the Northwestern-Illinois football game at Wrigley Field and the possibility of a player running into a brick wall, Bronko Nagurski’s name came up a lot. Bronko Nagurski was one of the all-time great football players, famous for his strength. He was a great player at several positions, both on offense and defense. Nagurski played a lot of football games at Wrigley Field for the Chicago Bears, but his name was brought up because of this story (as recounted in this wikipedia article): “A time-honored and perhaps apocryphal story about Nagurski is a scoring gallop that he made against the Washington Redskins, knocking two linebackers in opposite directions, stomping a defensive halfback and crushing a safety, then bouncing off the goalposts and Wrigley Field’s brick wall. On returning to the huddle for the extra point try, he reportedly said: ‘That last guy hit me awfully hard.'”
