GIVING THANKS 150 YEARS LATER. Last Thanksgiving, in connection with a remembrance of the first Thanksgiving proclamation, I raised the question here : what would have happened if the Union had dissolved? The news reports on these blogs will remind us of how things could have gone a different way. Let us give thanks to the heroes who preserved the Union and to the heroes who finally brought an end to legal segregation. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
