CHEATING AT CANDYLAND. I used to throw games of Candyland. Ordinarily, fixing games of Candyland would be difficult, but my opponent was in nursery school and was easily distracted, so that when necessary I was able to place the winning “Princess Lolly” card in the deck where she would draw it. Would it have been better to introduce her to losing at an early age? A friend of mine took a different approach, with a different game, but with an opponent of the same age. His wife told him, as his daughter was sobbing, that he should let her win. No, he replied. winning is just as important for me.
