BLAMING THE HOSPITALS. There may be another lesson in the article. It’s all too easy to blame the hospitals. The article (in the Wall Street Journal) says that: “It isn’t in these institutions’ financial interest to keep people from coming back.” This sounds bad, but reading further in the article it seems that what is meant is that government and private insurance plans generally don’t reimburse a hospital for the kind of services that reduce readmissions.
