FINDING AN ANSWER TO SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT BEING A TWIN. In the conversation about birthdays, somebody asked if Elmer and I, as identical twins, look as much alike as we did when we were younger. I took the opportunity to say that my brother is a very good-looking man. It took me fifty years to think of that line, but I use it now whenever I am asked what my brother is like.

We also need to hear what Elmer says!
Probably the same thing, don’t you think?
I hope you’re not suggesting, stereotypically, that as a twin, he would say exactly the same thing!
Phil was looking to find a photo on himself he could send on with his high school reunion information. I suggested he send the Samurai picture of Elmer. He laughed and said, “Maybe we should BOTH send it!”
I recited that line today at my aunt’s wedding when Wallace and Douglas were talking about being mistaken for each other. I must say it’s one of your better sallies.
“One of your better sallies.” Lee knows that my father would often say after making a joke that didn’t work (often a pun): “I thought that was one of my better sallies.” Thanks for the tribute to my father, Lee.
Oooops. I didn’t remember it was for the failed jokes!
It’s OK. My father would also say it after we laughed, but he seemed to enjoy it more when he said it after we failed to laugh.
I think Lee and my dad’s father would’ve gotten along splendidly.
I agree. Lee’s father and my father would have gotten along splendidly. As would Lee and my father.
