“THE WORLD IS SO FULL OF A NUMBER OF THINGS….” The opposite of Beckett’s world view is the poem by Robert Louis Stevenson that my father used to recite often at the dinner table:

“The world is so full of a number of things
I’m sure we should all be as happy as kings.”
