WOULD ELECTING THE PRESIDENT BY POPULAR VOTE BE A GOOD THING? I certainly would be happy if it happened. I have expressed my frustration that until this year, Presidential nominees were chosen by only a few states. If it happened, it would be even more important that we devote enough resources to getting the registration and voting process right. The parties have demonstrated their ability to provide close elections, and a national recount would be a nightmare.
