In conducting a statistical test, one grouping (“Bayesians”) wants to include independent knowledge and beliefs; the other wants to start from scratch (“frequentists”). This wikipedia article describes the “debate around the foundations of statistics: “Frequentist and Bayesian interpretations disagree about the ways in which probabilities should be assigned in applications.
