FAVORITE BUILDINGS. Lee Bryant sent me this wonderful site which has a ranking and pictures of the favorite 150 pieces of architecture in America (as voted in some kind of poll). The list included, I am glad to say, bridges and baseball parks. One of the comments nominates Central Park, and maybe it should have made the list. The comments are all interesting, including nominations for the Wainwright Building in Saint Louis and the Wren building (designed by Christopher Wren) at the College of William and Mary. I was surprised that only one building by Louis Sullivan made the list, but I was pleased to see that Richardson had six on the list and Burnham had five. There is no building by Mies van der Rohe on the list. One of the most important buildings on the list is #103, the Hyatt Hotel in Atlanta by John Portman, which inaugurated the success of a hotel chain based on architecture. I would have included the Monadnock Building in Chicago and the CBS Building in New York by Eero Saarinen. You can vote for you own five favorite buildings. I’ll give you a couple days to vote and then I’ll tell you how I voted.

I went to the site. Did I miss it? Where is the New York Public Library? I must have missed it.
#47. The site lets you look at the buildings alphabetically by name of building and alpabetically by the first name of the architect.
